Xiaomi has announced the upcoming global launch of its first foldable flip phone, the Mix Flip, shortly after briefly overtaking Apple as the world’s second-largest smartphone manufacturer.
Launched in China in July, the Mix Flip features a striking design, a 4-inch outer display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, and a robust 4,780 mAh battery—larger than that of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun revealed on Twitter that the Mix Flip will be available globally this September, with more details expected alongside the launch of the Xiaomi 14T series. However, a U.S. release is not anticipated.
This announcement coincides with Counterpoint Research reporting that Xiaomi’s shipments have surpassed Apple’s, marking a 22% year-over-year growth, though this may be temporary as Apple gears up for its annual iPhone launch. Samsung remains the largest smartphone maker, regaining its lead over Apple.
