Tesla Cybertruck Tires Show Rapid Wear After Just 6,000 Miles

Tesla Cybertruck owners are increasingly frustrated with rapid tire wear, a problem that’s drawing attention within the community. A recent report from a member of the Cybertruck Owners Club reveals that his vehicle, with only 6,251 miles on the odometer, is experiencing significant tread wear and may soon need new tires.

The owner, based in Colorado, observed that the tread depths on his Cybertruck’s tires are 4/32 of an inch at the front and 5/32 at the rear. These measurements are notably below the original tread depths of 10/32 to 11/32. For context, TireRack considers tires worn out at 2/32 of an inch, with replacements recommended at 4/32 or 5/32 in adverse driving conditions.

The tires currently equipped on the Cybertruck are either:

  • Pirelli Scorpion ATR (all-season)
  • Goodyear Wrangler Territory RT (all-terrain)

Similar tire wear issues have also been reported by owners of Rivian vehicles, who attribute the problem to the vehicle’s weight and the impact of driving modes on tire alignment.

Tesla’s Chill Mode, which limits acceleration to reduce power demand, could potentially help mitigate tire wear. However, despite the careful use of Beast Mode and avoiding off-road driving, the nearly 7,000-pound weight of the Cybertruck may be exacerbating the rapid tread wear.

Goodyear Wrangler Territory RT10/32 – 11/324/32 (front), 5/32 (rear)Significant Wear
  1. Tire Type Selection: Owners might consider alternative tire brands or types that could offer better durability given the Cybertruck’s weight and performance demands.
  2. Driving Modes and Maintenance: Utilizing Tesla’s Chill Mode more frequently and ensuring regular tire maintenance may help extend tire life.
  3. Vehicle Weight: Given the Cybertruck’s substantial weight, manufacturers and owners alike might need to reassess tire specifications to accommodate the vehicle’s demands.

As the Cybertruck continues to gain traction in the market, addressing these tire wear concerns will be crucial for both Tesla and its customers to ensure long-term satisfaction and performance.
