The Sindh government is preparing to purchase luxury vehicles for Assistant Commissioners stationed across the province.
The General Administration Department has written a letter to the Finance Department requesting the release of PKR 2 billion for this purpose.
Details | Information |
---|---|
Total Budget Requested | PKR 2 billion |
Number of Vehicles to be Purchased | 138 Double Cabin 4×4 Vehicles |
Purpose | For use by Assistant Commissioners in Sindh |
Estimated Cost per Vehicle | Over PKR 10 million |
The vehicles, which are 4×4 double cabins, will be allocated to Assistant Commissioners across Sindh. The cost of each vehicle is estimated to exceed PKR 10 million.
The newly purchased vehicles will be utilized by Assistant Commissioners for their routine office tasks.
Previously, the Punjab government’s decision to allocate new vehicles to additional commissioners and other revenue officials faced legal challenges in the Lahore High Court.
Advocate Mudassir Chaudhry filed a petition on behalf of petitioner Sheeraz Altaf, contesting the government’s decision. The petitioner argued that, given the current economic crisis, public funds should be directed towards public welfare rather than on such privileges. “These benefits should only be provided once economic stability is achieved,” the petitioner stated.
