In line with the Kisan-friendly vision of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government has initiated a scheme to provide interest-free loans worth Rs. 75 billion to 500,000 farmers across the province, including District Hafizabad. Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq announced this while inaugurating the distribution of Kisan Cards at the District Complex, Hafizabad.
The Kisan Card Scheme was officially launched with Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq handing over the first Kisan Card to Rana Khalid Mehmood, President of Awami Mahaz Hafizabad, along with other farmers. Present at the event were key officials, including Deputy Director Agriculture Muhammad Yousaf, Assistant Commissioner Munawar Hussain, and Agriculture Officer Faraz Ahmad.
According to Deputy Commissioner Razzaq, the distribution of Kisan Cards will not only increase the per-acre yield but also improve the socio-economic conditions of the farmers. The government is focused on revolutionizing agriculture, recognizing its significance as the backbone of the national economy. He emphasized that Kisan Cards are being distributed fairly to ensure that deserving farmers receive the benefits.

Yousaf further elaborated that each Kisan Card holder is eligible to receive a Rs. 30,000 per acre loan, with a maximum of Rs. 150,000 for those with up to 5 acres of land. The loans are interest-free and intended to help farmers purchase essential inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides.
