In a recent move to support students, the Punjab Cabinet has approved further discounts on bike purchases. The decision came after a request from the Punjab Transport Department to subsidize charges. Under this new scheme, the provincial government will cover the registration subsidy for all types of bikes provided to students.
Additionally, the Punjab government will pay the bank processing fee of PKR 1,500 per bike. Students who have already paid this fee will have the amount refunded directly into their bank accounts. The government will also cover the costs of bike registration, number plates, and smart cards. However, students will still be responsible for paying the bike installments, insurance, and any uplift charges.
Following the Punjab Cabinet’s approval, the new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding the bike subsidies have been put into effect immediately.
