In a significant development, Lt. Gen. Akhtar Nawaz Satti, HI (M), has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC). The appointment was made by the President of Pakistan, under the powers conferred by Article 242 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973, and Section 3 (3) and 4 (1) of the Federal Public Service Commission Ordinance, 1977 (as amended).
Lt. Gen. Satti’s appointment will last for a period of three years, or until he reaches the age of 65, whichever comes first. His tenure will officially begin upon his retirement.
The official notification of the appointment, issued by the Government of Pakistan’s Cabinet Secretariat Establishment Division, stated that Lt. Gen. Akhtar Nawaz Satti will take over the role with immediate effect. The notice was circulated to all key governmental departments, including the Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Division, Ministry of Defence, and the AGPR.
Lt. Gen. Satti’s distinguished military career and experience will be instrumental in overseeing the FPSC’s mission to ensure merit-based recruitment for federal positions.
This move comes at a crucial time, as the FPSC continues to play a pivotal role in maintaining transparency and upholding standards in public service recruitment.
