Heavy Rainfall and Windstorms Loom Over Sindh—Will Your Area Be Affected?

On Monday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a forecast predicting heavy to moderate rainfall, windstorms, and thundershowers across various regions of Sindh on September 3 and 4.

Additional Rainfall Predictions

In a separate advisory released on Sunday, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) forecasted widespread rainfall across the country from September 2 to 5. The monsoon system is expected to affect:

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP): Increased flow in local nullahs and streams, including areas such as Galliyat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Nowshera, and Swabi on the night of September 2 and 3.
  • Punjab and Other Regions: Potential for urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Chakwal, Nowshera, and Peshawar.

Precautions Advised

The NDMA has urged all relevant authorities and the public to take necessary precautions to mitigate the impacts of flooding and heavy rains.

The PMD’s forecast highlights the need for preparedness as significant weather changes are expected across various regions.
