Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, underscored the government’s dedication to utilizing space technology for national development during the ‘PAKSAT-MM1 Satellite Application Conference.’ She highlighted that the new PAKSAT-MM1 satellite would transform communication infrastructure, enhance internet access in remote areas, and contribute to a digitally connected Pakistan.
Khawaja also noted Pakistan’s significant progress in the UN e-governance development index, where it has advanced by 14 positions, joining the ranks of high-tier digital e-governance nations.
SUPARCO Chairman Muhammad Yousuf Khan praised the satellite’s role in socio-economic growth and Pakistan’s global space presence. He called on local industries to engage in developing space-related ecosystems. The PAKSAT-MM1 satellite, expected to function for over 15 years, will offer high-speed broadband and essential services, bridging the digital divide and fostering growth in underserved regions.
