The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two individuals for distributing manipulated images and videos of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on social media said a news by The DAWN.
The FIA announced that Ahmed Hassan and Murtaza Khan were taken into custody for their role in spreading misleading visual content featuring the Chief Minister. This action followed a formal complaint lodged by a resident of Mozang, Lahore.
The agency reported that the suspects were involved in propagating provocative and false material intended to incite public disturbance. The case has been filed under the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing, which is actively investigating these illegal activities that aim to distort public perception through deceptive online content.
In related news, the Pakistani government has confirmed the launch of a web monitoring system to oversee and regulate online content within the country. The Cabinet Division has officially notified the National Assembly of this initiative, which is being managed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
