Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has ordered a comprehensive report from all districts of Punjab regarding the stock of equipment purchased over the last ten years, reported Gizmo Pakistan. This request includes details on various items such as weapons, machinery, vehicles, uniforms, and other supplies.
Police sources indicate that the IG’s decision to demand this report stems from recent financial scandals within the police department related to these purchases. The report is expected to detail items that have been auctioned or have become obsolete.
In response to the IG’s directive, police heads across all districts have been issued official notices. They have been given a deadline of September 5th to compile and submit the required reports. Following the submission of these reports, inspections will be conducted based on the findings, and specialized teams have been formed for this purpose.
This move aims to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of police resources and address any irregularities in past procurement practices.
