DRAP Issues Alert for Contaminated Syrups and Suspensions

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has issued an urgent recall for five drug products due to contamination issues. The affected products include Cestonil Plus syrup, Texcol DM 10mg/5ml syrup, Speczine 5mg/5ml Syrup, Aphylin Syrup, and Zolint Suspension. The contamination with ethylene glycol and di-ethylene glycol, both identified by the Directorate of Drugs Control (DDC), Punjab, has led to these products being classified as substandard by Drug Testing Laboratories (DTLs).

Health Risks:

Contamination with di-ethylene glycol (DEG) and ethylene glycol (EG) poses serious health risks. These chemicals are toxic and can lead to severe health complications if ingested.
