All banks across Pakistan will remain closed on Tuesday, September 17, in observance of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The announcement follows a statement by Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, who confirmed that the Rabiul Awwal moon was not sighted in Pakistan on Wednesday, meaning Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be observed on September 17. The third month of the Islamic calendar, Rabiul Awwal, will officially begin on Tuesday, September 6.
Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) holds deep religious significance for Muslims, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the final prophet of Islam. The day is marked by gatherings, prayers, and reflections on the Prophet’s teachings and his exemplary life. It is a time for the faithful to renew their spiritual commitment and reaffirm their love and respect for the Prophet.
Pakistan observes a public holiday on 12 Rabiul Awwal, with all public and commercial banks also closed on this significant day. While the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has yet to release its official notification, it is expected to confirm the closure of banks for the occasion.
Eid Milad-un-Nabi encourages Muslims to reconnect with the values and teachings of Islam, drawing inspiration from the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to lead a righteous and compassionate life.
