Strict Social Media Guidelines Issued for Karachi Police

Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho has implemented a new social media policy restricting officers from using TikTok and other platforms without prior approval.

In a directive addressed to police officers across the Karachi Range, including DIGs and SSPs, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Javed Alam Odho detailed the policy aimed at regulating police personnel’s online activities.

This move follows previous efforts by IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon to limit officers’ TikTok use, which were ineffective.

Odho emphasized that any videos showcasing police uniforms, vehicles, or equipment must receive pre-approval and be shared exclusively through official accounts.

The policy prohibits officers from posting or engaging in content that mocks or disrespects individuals based on race, gender, caste, or religion. Additionally, police personnel are not allowed to express personal, political, or religious opinions on social media. Official police social media accounts will be managed solely by designated DIGs, SSPs, or the Unit Head Media Team.
