PTA Announces New Policy for SIMs Issued on Deceased Individuals

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced a significant new policy concerning SIM cards issued in the names of deceased individuals. Under this directive, all SIMs registered under the identification cards of the deceased must be transferred to the names of their living relatives immediately.

In a recent statement, the PTA advised that all such SIMs should be transferred to the legal heirs of the deceased. Failure to comply with this directive will result in the automatic deactivation of these SIMs after the specified period.

To facilitate the transfer, users are required to visit the nearest franchise with the original death certificate of the deceased and official documents proving their relationship to the deceased. The PTA clarified that after verifying the documents, the franchise will transfer the SIMs to the account of the living relatives of the deceased individual.

This policy aims to ensure that SIMs are used appropriately and in accordance with current regulations.
