In a bid to tackle the increasing issue of fraudulent medical visas, the Ministry of Interior Affairs has implemented a new verification system designed to authenticate both sponsors and applicants says a report by Daily Ausaf.
According to sources within the Interior Ministry, the revamped system mandates that sponsors confirm their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) details. A confirmation message will be sent to the sponsor’s registered contact number before any medical visa application is approved.
This initiative follows numerous reports of fake medical visas, particularly involving Afghan patients who have exploited the visa system. The new verification procedure is intended to curb fraudulent practices and enhance the security of the visa issuance process.
The Ministry of Interior is working closely with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Chief Medical Officers (CMOs), and the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to refine the system with expert input.
In a statement a senior official from the Interior Ministry emphasized the commitment to maintaining the visa system’s integrity. Under the guidance of Interior Secretary Khurram Agha and Additional Secretary Ayub Chaudhary, the official remarked, “This new verification system represents a significant step towards achieving our goal of preventing fraud and ensuring a secure visa process.”
