Pakistan Customs Intercept Rs446 Million Worth of Smuggled Phones

Pakistan Customs intercepted an attempt to smuggle over 15,465 mobile phones worth Rs446 million from China through the Khunjerab Pass border. The goods, primarily Android phones, were discovered in a truck parked near Dehi on the Karakoram Highway.

The Customs team, acting on a tip-off, found the truck abandoned with no one present. After bringing it to Sost Dry Port, officials found 8,365 smartphones and 7,100 bar phones, among other non-duty paid items. No one claimed the truck or its contents despite a notice being posted.

The total market value of the seized goods is estimated at Rs446 million. A smuggling case has been registered, and the goods remain in Customs custody.
