PUBG Misused for Terrorist Coordination in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

In a disturbing revelation, it has come to light that the popular video game PUBG is being exploited for coordinating terrorist activities in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. This marks a significant shift in how terrorist groups are utilizing digital platforms for their operations.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Swat, Dr. Zahid, this is the first instance where terrorists have used PUBG for operational coordination. Historically, terrorist organizations favored encrypted messaging apps like Telegram for communication. However, recent developments in Swat have shown a troubling trend of terrorists using PUBG’s chat features to plan and execute their activities.

Dr. Zahid explained that terrorists were using PUBG to chat and exchange sensitive information in private groups, capitalizing on the fact that the game’s chat functions are not actively monitored. This allowed them to communicate discreetly while planning their attacks.

In a notable breakthrough, a successful joint operation conducted by Swat Police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) led to the arrest of three terrorists involved in the recent bombing of the Navekelay police post. During the operation, law enforcement recovered significant evidence, including weapons, ammunition, and mobile phones with PUBG installed. The game’s chat history provided critical clues linking the suspects to the attack.

The DPO emphasized that Swat Police are fully equipped and committed to addressing all security challenges. He assured that efforts are underway to maintain peace in the region and prevent any further disruptions. The arrest of the suspects responsible for the Banr police post attack is expected to yield valuable information that will aid in thwarting future threats from extremist elements.

Dr. Zahid reassured the public of their safety, stating that protecting lives and property remains a top priority. He made these comments while addressing media representatives at his office in Gul Kada.

This development underscores the evolving tactics of terrorist groups and the need for heightened vigilance and innovative countermeasures in the digital age.
