PTA Warns Public Against Fake Scams and Phishing Attempts

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a public alert warning citizens about an ongoing scam where fraudsters are attempting to obtain personal information under the guise of PTA officials. These fraudsters are contacting people through fake calls, emails, and messages, claiming to be from the PTA. They are using this fake identity to try to extract sensitive information from the public.

The PTA has clarified that it never requests personal information such as passwords, bank account details, or any other sensitive data via phone calls, emails, or messages. Citizens are advised to stay vigilant and not to fall prey to these fraudulent activities.

To combat these scams, PTA has provided a complaint mechanism. If anyone receives such suspicious communication, they are urged to report it immediately. Complaints can be filed through the official PTA website at https://complaint.pta.gov.pk/RegisterComplaint.aspx, or via the PTA Complaint Management System (CMS) mobile app. Additionally, the public can contact the FIA Cyber Crime Wing at 1991 or the PTA helpline at 0800-55055 for further assistance.

Stay Safe and Vigilant:
The PTA emphasizes that public awareness is crucial in preventing these scams. Always verify the source before sharing any personal information. For further assistance or to report fraudulent activities, contact the relevant authorities immediately.
